1.KESACO ?
Hello everybody everywhere !
Turbo Lode II is a sequell to Turbo Lode, a little Lode Runner remake who
appears in the second cover-disk of the 22th Amiga Dream opus , a french
magazine.
This new version features new ability to jump or clunge to blocks in a
"FlashBack" or "Prince of Persia" style. Turbo Lode I was one man work : Momor.
TL2 features original musics scores by Unison, and graphics by Sada.
Complete sounds files (1Mo chip needed) features a sexy voice.
The complete version of TL2 still has...
- ability to jump, to clinge to a platform like in Flashback !
- possibility of limited time. Up to 6 opponents slow or fast.
- gamescreen levels of 40 blocks per 30 (640 per 480 pixels in lo-res).
- mortal blocks (trap, mines, stakes), destructible, sticky, jumpy.
- warp or hidden zones, false-lingots, empty tiles ...
- Double-speed&jump bonus, life, invulnerability, time-stop.
- light-off malus (restricted sight), earthquake !!!
- 160Ko of digitized sounds with a sexy voice !
- thema-graphics (industrial) entirely customised

Turbo Lode is a remake of Lode Runner, the famous "oldie" of a time when
programmers knew how to make it fun with few lines of code.
The aim of the game is to collect all theses gold bar or lingots. In fact,
that is @&² and the meaning is : I don't have the place to write "lingots" in
the score-bar :-). So I decided to make a bad french pun that you'll
discover at the end of the game.
2.INSTALLATION
The complete Turbo Lode II consists in 2 discs. This demo can be installed in
a single ready-to-use autoboot disc. You don't just don't need intro and full
sounds (see below).
You can boot from the first disc or launch the game from the workbench by
double-clicking on the TurboLode2 icon.
In this case, if you only have 1Mb of Chip RAM (or a Wb with some graphics,
sounds, ToolManager and so), the game can suddenly stop.
If it happens :
- free Chip RAM before launching TL2.
- Read the file "About 1Mb computers" which explains how to replace the
following files :
"presentation.anim" (menu animation)
"Son.abk" (in-game sounds)
by lightened ones.
Thanks to these files, you'll be able to play Turbo Lode even on your A500-
or the A600 you found in a trashcan. Buy a A1200, it changes your life ! :-)
TL2 on Hard disk
----------------
Of course, TL2 is hard disk installable. Making a non-installable program in
1995 means "Crappy Lamers Federation approval".:-)
The fully TL2 distribution includes an installation script on the second disk.
You only have to drag the `Install' icon where you want the game to be copied,
and then to double-click on it.
TL2 on hard disk provides a 3D graphics animation : intro.anim, with a
mod : intro.mod.
Tl2 on floppy
-------------
There is no place for theses files in a DD floppy. Don't copy them if you want
a DD disk. Replace Datas/sound.Abk and Datas/presentation.anim too, like users
wo don't have enough RAM.

Files
If you have problems, or if you like to understand, here is the list of
needed files, and what they do.
TurboLodeDemo (or share): it's the game in its shareware demo version.
> Saving games or levels and cheat-mode desactivated.
You can distribute this game to friends.
* This demo-program need the file " TL2Demo " to work. *
TurboLode2 : It's the full registred game with all features enabled.
In order to get this registred game, you'll have to receive it from me.
To receive the full game, please read 6.REGISTRATION.
Data/
directory needed. Lists all external data files (musics, graphics, sounds,
etc). If one of these file is missing, the game won't work.
> the complete game documentation explain to you what are theses files and how
to design your own game using TL2 program.
Levels/
Directory holding levels saved by the editor. Original levels of TL2 are
numbered from 00.lev to 25.lev. TL2 uses levels following the AMIGADOS
files order (A before a, 1 before A, [ before 1...).
> Only 15 levels in the demo version.
> You can't save levels from the editor in the demo version. [register 100FF]
Savegame/
This directory holds you saved games.
It's hardly recommended to save your game in order to finish the game. Three
saved positions are provided in the distribution, which allows you to
discover differents levels (with less lives :-).
> You can't save games with this demo [register 100FF !]
/Fonts
indispensable directory which holds 2 fonts, TurboLode2 and Pearl.
DON'T COPY THESE FILES IN your FONTS: ! Altough that's true amiga bitmap font,
TL2 searches for its fonts in ITS directory. By the way, when you'll delete
the game, no useless files will remain on your hard disk.
3.CONTROLS
* The entire TL2 game can be played either with joystick or keyboard. The
mouse is only needed on the editor screen.
* Directions are available with arrow keys.
* Validation (OK let's go...) and fire are available with Return or firebutton.
Générique
At the beginning, you'll be presented with screens showing ours adresses,
because we really love to receive mails, and - honnestly - seeing our names
fading from black is really beautifull in the night.
* To escape theses screens, press Fire or return.

Menu
PLAY GAME
Begins a new game.
LOAD GAME
Loads a saved game. Several saved games are included, which allow you to see
the game at different levels.
EDIT GAME
Allows you to edit or create levels. Allow you to understand haow it's really
easy to create youself new levels whith the TL2 editor.
> You can't save your leels with this demo.
Keys during game.
You can play TL2 with the keyboard, but also toggle others functionnalities.
Arrowkeys dirige the hero :

Clinge to a block or a ladder while falling
^ Jump while running (or jump over an opponent - not easy !-)

As you are clinged to a block, you can climb over it by keeping the button
pressed and by going up.
ESPACE : Pause
ESC : Quit game (GAME OVER)
DEL : Restart level (losing a life)
F1 : Zoom OFF
F2 : Zoom ON
F3 : Invincibility (when Cheat mode is ON)
F4 : Save game (file-requester)
F5 : Load a previously saved game (file-requester)
F6 : Choose level (when Cheat mode is ON) : DO NOT CANCEL ELSE END OF GAME.
F7 : Gives you 99 lifes (when Cheat mode is ON).
F8 : Sound Filter ON/OFF.
F9 : Turn music level lower (now you can hear the sensuel voiiiice !!! ;-)
F10: Turn music level upper.
> Cheat mode doesn't exist in this demo. It's useless to try find it.
4.EDITOR.
It's very powerfull. With this one, we create all the levels for TL2.
Its mouse-driven interface make it really easy to use.
The editor control board icon is explicit enough, neither blow Sada ;-)
Keys
F1 or CLS clears level. Attention,the level keeps the same name !
F2: allows you to save an IFF-ILBM picture of the edited level (without
sprites).
ESC: Quits.
You can place a block or a sprite with the left mouse button.
You can clear a block with the right mouse button.
You can scroll the entire level with arrows keys.
You can cycle differents classes of blocks with the left (forward) or right
(backwards) mouse button on the yellow arrow at the left corner.
You cycle the ten lines of decorative blocks with the blue arrow at the right.
To understand the functions of the blocks in the game, and others tips,
register the complete game.
With the ability to create your own graphics (for the hero, the opponents,
and each block) and sounds (fx and music), you can create YOUR OWN Turbo Lode.
Of course you can't add options, or bonuses that are not already planned in
the program, but if you don't like the levels included, or if you dislike the
techno-industrial ambiance of the game, you can change it.
5.INSERTING YOUR OWN GRAPHICS AND SOUNDS
You can design yourself everything in TurboLode, and use the program in
order to create your own Lode Runner. The file-formats used are standard IFF
and .MOD files (pictures and musics), excepted for the in-game music which
uses a different format. An utility MOD2ABK is included on the second disc of
the complete game to transform mods into AMOS music banks.
The custom button in the editor allows you to set different graphics for
each level (with a different beginning-animation and sounds if needed).
We'll launch some data-disks (new graphics, sounds and levels) for TL2.
In work:
Kid for childrens, with easy levels and a "Sunny Springly Colorfull plateforme
game look". (on the way)
We hope a lot of registred users will begun the TL2 Mania !
6.REGISTRATION
The complete version of TL2 allows you to :
- TURN CHEAT MODE ON (unlimited lives, goto any level, invincibility...)
- SAVE YOUR GAMES
You can press F4 key, it works ! Saving games allows you to begin games at
the beginning of any already-played level.
- CREATING AND SAVING YOUR OWN LEVELS.
The flashing S button of the editor panel works. You can create your own
levels (with my graphics or your own) or edit existing levels.
HOW CAN YOU REGISTER ?

7.F.A.Q.
- I can't escape from this level.
Load supplied saved game to discover other levels.
Rename the level (i.e. file 08.lev as [08.lev ) or move it away from
/levels.
- Sound f/x are low.
You can lower the volume of the music by keeping pressed the F9 key, and
by raising the sound level of your monitor/Hi-Fi Box/TV-Box. Sound Fx are
low because it's quite difficult to keep a sweet sensuous voice while
screaming in a microphone - isn'it, Laly ?- ...
- Game is too hard : no time to see what happens and you're trapped between
two bad guy !
The difficulty of the game is progressive. Practice. Learn what your player
can do in the first levels : jumping, falling from ladder, clinging to rope
and blocks...
You can pause game with space bar, just to watch the level before running.
You can save games, at any moment, at any level. Anyway, the Kid levels
(data-disk) will be easier.
- I can't climb over a block at the end of a rope.
Stay hanged. Keep pressing firebutton or Return while pressing "Down".
Hold firebutton (or Return) and press "Up". You'll be climbing over the
block ...
- When the editor screen appears, it is filled with a brickwall block.
That's the famous clearing block used to clear catched bonus, etc.. If you
need a black sky, there is one in the first line of background blocks.
- Game is loading slow on floppy.
- Buy a hard disk. Well, this game is designed to be fully editable and
hard-disk intallable. There are a lot of DOS files. I you have an Amiga 500+
or A600, you can turn the filesystem to FFS. Don't hesitate to install TL2 on
a hard disk, it's only a single directory, and it's going faster with many
advantages.
- How can I delete TL2 from my hard disk ?
Delete TL2 directory and its contents.
- I've copied the TL2 game with its icon in another place and it doesn't
work any more.
TL2 needs some files wich have no icons. Drag the entire directory, not
only the TL2 icon. Re-install the game if you prefer.
- Game quits suddenly and "Out of memory" appears
You haven't enough Chip ram for TL2. Try to free maximum CHIP ram before
running the game, even if you have plenty of Fast ram -like me-. Try to
lower the color and resolution of Workbench, to quit Toolmanager, f.e.
If the problem persists, try replacing menu and sounds with the 1Mb files.
- why paying 100FF for the complete game ?
Because we have worked four mouth on this game. We're far from each others
and phone, railway and poststamps are expensive in France (especially phone,
you don't imagine (I pay 1000FF per month phones bills). A commercial game is
worth 245FF and you can't try it before buying it (and there's no editor in
many cases). You can do that with TL2. We have many projects in mind.
Encourage us ! We need to continue !
- I have designed a game/program for Amiga myself and I don't have so much
money.
You're a creator or an active persone like us ? Send us your complete
game/program. Let's exchange free. We enjoy what others do.If it isn't too
lame... :-) you'll receive a full copy of TL2. Contact me.
- Five years ago, I made a bank database with AMIGABASIC, which is only
working under 1.3. If I send it to you, will you give me a free TL2 ?
NOOOOOOOOOO !
- I have already installed TL2share, must I re-install all TL2 files or only
the main programm ?
- Install the complete game in another directory, instead of mixing files. The
complete TL2 files are updated, and there are more levels.
- Do I keep or delete the old TL2 demo-version ?
If you don't need it, delete it. But if you want to copy TL2Share for your
friends... You can't copy your complete TL2 registred game to another person.
- That's awfully intolerable, this crappy AMOS CRADOS game disables
multi-tasking.
- That's false ! Back to Amiga and Workbench Screens is possible with Amiga-Q
on your american keyboard (try A else).
Sorry it's awfully slow and they're keyboard conflicts but it can help.
8.GLOSSARY
Some explanation for technical stuff and abbreviations.
AMOS
It's the name of the quite crapy but quite powerfull sophisticated basic Momor
used to program this game.
ANIM5
It's the animation format generated by DPAINT 3. Most powerfull file-format
exists, but AMOS (so TL2) prefers the ANIM5 format.
Chip memory
Memory used for sounds and graphics. It's the one which first lacks, even if
you have a lot of FAST RAM. You can read the available amount of chip ram on
the title bar of the Workbench screen.
Amiga 1200, 3000 et 4000 have all 2 Mb of Chip, but other ones have only one
exepts 512Kb if your Amiga is very old. 1Mo chip ram ONLY (with NO FAST RAM)
Amigas must use 1Mo files for sounds and menu.
ECS
Enhanced ChipSet. Available screen modes and colours for old AMIGA 500, 600,
2000 et 3000.
TL2
It's an abbreviation for Turbo Lode 2.

Intox, the sequell to TL2, has not been released yet but I'll intend to work on
it this summer, espacially on 3D graphics for backgrounds and intro anims. The
program is finish, it features :
- ability to shoot opponants with limited anmunitions.
- ability to fly with jetpack bonus
- NEW big boss opponant who fire at you
- killed opponant will be definitively eliminated
- telepods who transport you
- doors and open/close ability
- all game is now on 32 colors screen
- animated blocks for backgrounds
As TL2 already features it, it can play 3D graphics and sounds before each
level. So Intox is more "scenarized" and feature a real story and differents
levels.
A Beta demo release will be sent to registred TL2 users.
At this time, we don't know if we want the game INTOX shareware or commercial.
The Amiga market is so specific !

TL2 kids, the first Data-disk (in fact it's a complete new game, with news
souds, musics, graphics, and levels. Only the programm is the same), is on the
way. I and Unison are working on it.
It is already funny, and we try to make it really easy.
